HOT SPOT

Hidden beneath the shadows of the Williamsburg Bridge, the Dollhaus Art Gallery is a bastion of originality in an otherwise homogenized Brooklyn neighborhood. Owned by longtime Williamsburg artist Emma Louise, the 800-sqaure-foot space focuses on non-mainstream "outsider art" from Brooklyn based artists. past installations involving painted dolls and photos of supermodels with transplanted pig noses cozy next to the gallery's current exhibition of large-scale drawings littered with psychedelic shapes and subversive punk slogans. Prices for artwork range from $8 to $2,000. Each month, the Dollhaus hosts a raucous late-night opening reception featuring street performers and music to introduce a new artist's work.
